Merck Animal Health, a leading animal health company, is dedicated to the research and development, and production and marketing of innovative animal pharmaceutical products and vaccines.
EAD helped Merck update its Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system for two freeze dryers and two autoclaves to a modern platform and integrate the equipment into the plant.
The system that EAD updated collected critical data and provided remote access for monitoring, without physically accessing, the plant’s clean rooms.
EAD provided additional functionality for historical data collection, remote access and modified recipe management. The project also included new hardware engineering and procurement of new operator terminals to replace the outdated operator interfaces in the clean rooms. This new hardware allowed the plant to integrate all of the control systems into the plant network architecture.
Working closely with Merck staff, EAD installed, tested and validated each autoclave and freeze dryer individually without affecting the operations of the other autoclaves and freeze dryers.
