An aquaculture and renewable technology solutions provider at the forefront of the sustainable products and alternative fuels industry grows, harvests, and processes locally available micro-crops that provide nutrient rich food products for global markets. Our client devised the initial concept for a hydroponic farm able to transform non-arable land into usable land that could support a production process with minimal processing requirements to minimize environmentally harmful CO3 emissions.
From Concept to Reality
Our client turned to EAD to transform this concept into a commercial reality. Over the course of the project, EAD developed the design for our client’s first licensed commercial-scale aquatic plant farm intended for the production, harvesting, and processing of microalgae and aquatic plants. First, we provided process-development consulting to take our client’s laboratory scale concept to a pilot scale. We then performed site-specific engineering for the grading, building design, and facility layouts.
EAD’s safety experts and engineers ensured that our client’s demonstration facility met all code requirements. Using the 3D virtual modeling capabilities of the BIM software, EAD designed an entire conceptual design of the facility including bio-reactors, harvesting, and processing facilities. Meeting the design requirements involved the collaboration and input of EAD’s in-house team of engineers, involving discipline expertise in process to environmental to controls and automation engineering.
Today, our client’s novel aquatic technologies provide a sustainable solution for areas in the world the struggle with food security, making it possible to locally produce food at a low cost to the environment.
