Over the years, our client has relied on EAD’s expertise on dust collection and safety training initiatives. We performed field observation analyses in multiple facilities to identify deflagration hazards, providing recommendations to address safety and operational issues such as allergen cross-contact hazards, workplace inhalation hazards, and production rate bottlenecks.
In one facility with an extrusion process for pasta and snacks, EAD performed a field assessment and dust hazard analysis including an assessment and detailed report with recommendations on how the plant could meet the safety standards required to maintain their certification. We implemented a fines dust collection system to capture fugitive dust and control airborne dust hazards, providing general arrangement layout sketches and an estimate for the related procurement, construction, and construction drawing package costs.
In another project, EAD prepared a customized field survey for our client. The field survey included an in-depth analysis of our client’s granulated potato dryers, intermediate storage, transfer to packaging line hoppers, and commercial package filling. Because we want our client’s facility to continue to be safe long after our job is done, we also provided training to their engineering and operations staff on the hazards of combustible dust, preventing deflagration, and methods for ensuring a food-safe production environment.
