ABOUT THE CLIENT
EAD is the trusted advisor of a global leader in the food and beverage manufacturing industry. The manufacturer turns to EAD to provide innovative engineering and project / construction management solutions that grow their business and help them meet the needs of a worldwide consumer base. Warehousing plays a crucial role in the manufacturer’s supply chain, enabling efficient storage, distribution, and inventory management. EAD supports their business through the strategic design and utilization of their warehousing spaces, helping facilitate timely product delivery, improved product freshness, and greater client satisfaction.
PROBLEM TO SOLVE
Witnessing increased consumer demand for their line of products, the manufacturer sought to expand their warehouse facility with the addition of a new, two-story electrical room. Given the complexity of the project, they turned to long-time partner EAD to both design the new warehouse addition and manage the installation. Through leveraging EAD’s in-house, multi-discipline expertise in the engineering and project management disciplines, the manufacturer knew their complex endeavor would result in a cohesive, seamless, and well-executed project.
APPROACH & SOLUTION
Based on our on-site evaluation, EAD developed a comprehensive design for the electrical room warehouse addition. It not only met the manufacturer’s requirements, but also included our own recommendations for cost-savings. In the design drawings, EAD’s structural engineering team added a transformer spill containment basin on the exterior of the facility and a reinforced concrete basin. The design also included new room foundations, CMU walls, doors, a stairway, and hollow core planks for the cap of the second floor. EAD’s mechanical engineering team dselected an air handling unit and designed the layout of the ventilation and cooling systems in perfect alignment with the structural engineering design. Upon completion of the design phase, EAD’s construction management team managed the installation, performing tasks such as developing RFIs, and conducting technical submittal reviews and progress inspections. Our experts even worked with the local city authorities to review the permits for the construction of the new room.
RESULT & BENEFIT
Drawing from our deep understanding of the manufacturer’s systems and processes, EAD delivered a cohesive, cost-effective design for the electrical room warehouse addition. Our multi-discipline, in-house team worked in close alignment throughout the entire project, helping the manufacturer cut costs and simplify the design and construction processes. The close collaboration resulted in a well-executed, high-quality, and on-time warehouse expansion.
