Ammonia Refrigeration System Upgrade
A food processor asked EAD to provide engineering services as part of an ammonia system upgrade project at their plant. Our client needed an upgrade to the detection system, and ventilation system. Also, replace their current equipment to an upgraded ammonia safety system to satisfactorily respond to a safety audit.
Working directly with our client, EAD developed a scope, budget, and schedule to obtain the needed funding for the project. We then designed a custom ammonia alarm detection system that included control panels and a ventilation system that met all OSHA Process Safety Management (PSM) and Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) requirements. This customized system was directly interfaceable with our client’s existing safety systems.
In addition to engineering a safe and workable system design, EAD also helped to manage the overall project. We worked with multiple contractors to resolve major issues to ensure on time and in budget project completion. EAD provided solutions that addressed every area where safety could be improved, from updating P&IDs and tagging equipment to re-piping entire ammonia lines to the roof in order to prevent the possibility of forklift damage. We are happy to know that our high standards for our client’s safety has resulted in a lasting safe and incident free workplace.
